CHARLESTON REACTOR CRACK

By: Constance Harness

In an Associated Press article in the November 1 issue of the Spartanburg (South Carolina) Herald-Journal, it was reported that a special inspection team from the Nuclear Regulatory Committee will be sent to review a crack discovered last week in a pipe at the V.C. Summer nuclear plant in Charleston, South Carolina. Plant inspectors, during a routine inspection, discovered the leak.

The team will review operations and the plant’s inservice inspection program. The regulatory commission will discuss preliminary findings in a meeting that will be open to the public.
