PCT acquires BroadBeam® Technology from Bemis Clysar, Inc.

Davenport, IA, September 2, 2003- The widely used BroadBeam® line of electron beam processors is once again available as a result of the acquisition of this technology by PCT Product & Manufacturing, LLC from Bemis Clysar, Inc. Users of this technology will also benefit from the wide range of complementary engineering services now available from PCT.

RPC Technologies originally developed the BroadBeam® family of electron beam processors. Bemis Clysar acquired this technology to ensure support for their global manufacturing operations. Bemis Clysar then selected PCT to be the new owner of this technology based on the quality of engineering and machine building services offered.

Current users of BroadBeam® machines once again have access to authorized parts and service for their machines. PCT has formed the BroadBeam® Equipment Division to provide sales, service, parts and training. Experienced technicians are available for service calls and annual support contracts are being offered.

BroadBeam® machines are designed for applications requiring 175 to 300 kV and web widths ranging from 12 to 30 inches. New units are engineered to match the customer's unique process requirements.

New to this market segment is BroadBeam® Equipment's ability to offer complete, turnkey solutions for electron beam processing lines. This includes auxiliary process equipment such as winders, slitters, and conveyors as well as complete systems for process automation, product tracking and overall equipment effectiveness tracking (OEE).

Electron beam processing is a method for efficiently transferring electrical energy into a substance to change its material properties for a specific purpose. This is an essential technology for hundreds of companies. Major uses include cross-linking of plastic films, and curing of inks and coatings. Electron beam processing provides important environmental benefits in addition to manufacturing process and product performance improvements. The process is very energy efficient and the special 100% solids inks and coatings used contain no solvents, therefore no VOC's are produced.
